You have surely heard of carbon footprint.
But have you by any chance heard of water footprint?
“The water footprint of a nation shows the total volume of water that is used to produce the goods and services consumed by the inhabitants of the nation”. According to waterfootprint.org. For instance, it takes 140 liters to produce 1 cup of coffee.
Can you imagine how much water it must take to produce 1 kg of wheat or rice?
You can calculate your individual water footprint or that of the country you live.
Why should you or I care about this?
Because we are living in an era of major transformation, where most of the natural resources that we took for granted are quickly diminishing. We all have to become cognizant of how we use these natural resources and become mindful consumers.
